Quick Reference

The ADD keyword is used to add columns or constraints to an existing table.

ADD COLUMN

The following adds the last_name column to the Customers table.

				
					ALTER TABLE Customers
ADD last_name varchar(255);
				
			

ADD CONSTRAINT

The following adds a constraint named “key_customer” that is a PRIMARY KEY constraint on multiple columns (id and last_name).

				
					ALTER TABLE Customers
ADD CONSTRAINT key_customer PRIMARY KEY (id, last_name);
