Quick Reference

The PHP touch() function sets the access and modification time of the specified file.

Note: If the specified file does not exist, it will be created.

if (touch($file)) {
    echo $file . ' modification time has been changed';

    echo $file . 'time could not be modified';
}

Output

				
					// sets the access and modification time of the specified file
				
			

Syntax

				
					touch(filename, time, atime)
				
			

Parameters

ParameterDescription
filenameSpecifies the file to touch (required)
timeSets the touch time (current system time is set by default)
atimeSets the access time (default is the current system time if no parameters are set, or the same as the time parameter if that parameter is set)
