Quick Reference
The MySQL CONCAT_WS() function adds two or more expressions together using a separator.
The following combines the two strings “Johnny” and “Shay” using a hyphen as a separator.
SELECT CONCAT_WS('-', 'Johnny', 'Shay') AS 'Concatenated String';
Output
Concatenated String
Johnny-Shay
Syntax
CONCAT_WS(separator, expression1, expression2, expression3,...)
Parameter
Parameter | Description |
---|---|
separator | The separator to add between each of the expressions; if the separator is NULL, this function returns NULL (required) |
expression1, expression2, expression3, etc. | The expressions to add together; An expression with a NULL value will be skipped (required) |
