Quick Reference

The :first-of-type selector selects all elements that are the first child of a specified type of their parent element.

In the below example, for the paragraph to be selected, it does NOT have to be the first child of the parent. It only needs to be the first paragraph of the parent element.

// selects every HTML paragraph that is the first paragraph of its parent
$('p:first-of-type')

We’d like to acknowledge that we learned a great deal of our coding from W3Schools and TutorialsPoint, borrowing heavily from their teaching process and excellent code examples. We highly recommend both sites to deepen your experience, and further your coding journey. We’re just hitting the basics here at 1SMARTchicken.
