Quick Reference

The fadeIn() method gradually changes, fades in, the opacity for the selected element from completely hidden to completely visible. The visible item will now take up space on the page, affecting the layout.

Syntax

				
					$(selector).fadeIn(speed, easing, callback)
				
			
				
					$('button').click(function() {
    $('div').fadeIn(2000, 'swing');
});
				
			

Parameters

ParameterDescription
speedSpecifies the speed of the effect; possible values (default value is 400 milliseconds):
  • milliseconds
  • “slow”
  • “fast”
easingSpecifies the speed of the element in different points of the effect; possible values (default value is “swing”):
  • “swing” – moves slower at the beginning/end, but faster in the middle
  • “linear” – moves in a constant speed
callbackA function to be executed after the method is completed
