Quick Reference

The Element scrollTop property sets or returns the number of pixels an element’s content is scrolled vertically.

				
					<!-- html element to place output -->
<p id="my_output"></p>
				
			

Get the Scroll

				
					// variables
let my_element = document.getElementById('my_output');
let x = my_element.scrollTop;

// output to the HTML element
document.getElementById('my_output').innerHTML = x.toFixed();
				
			

Set the Scroll

				
					// variable
let my_element = document.getElementById('my_output');

// scroll
my_element.scrollTop = 50;
				
			

Output

Get the Scroll

				
					(on vertical scroll will output the number of pixels scrolled)
				
			

Set the Scroll

				
					(will scroll down 50px)
				
			

Syntax
